India imposes anti-dumping duty on HRC, eases safeguard duty

India has imposed anti-dumping duty on imports of hot rolled coil (HRC) in order to protect domestic steel manufacturers from cheap imports, Steel First has learnt.


At the same time, the country’s government has increased the threshold for the application of safeguard duty on the product.
A notification issued on Tuesday August 9 by the ministry of finance stated that anti-dumping duty will be imposed on HRC imports from China, Japan, South Korea, Russia, Brazil and Indonesia for a period of six months.
