Social justice a factor in review of mines, head of Philippines’ audit team says

Compliance with environmental standards is just one factor considered by the Department of Natural Resources (DENR) in its review of the country’s mining operations, with social justice being another key aspect, head of the mines audit team told Metal Bulletin.

“Environment is just one factor, the other is social justice,” Leo Jasareno, Philippine senior undersecretary for the environment and head of the audit team, told Metal Bulletin in an interview on Thursday September 22.
