SHANGHAI NICKEL TRAINING FORUM: Chinese stainless steel production to rise 7% in 2016

Chinese stainless steel production is likely to total 23 million tonnes in 2016, up 6.8% year-on-year, attendees at the Shanghai nickel training forum “Huoshuilunjian” on September 24, were told.

Fan Runze from Chinese information provider Antaike cited the robust nickel demand from Chinese stainless steel expansion as one of the main engines behind the rally in the price of nickel since the end of first half in 2016, echoing comments by Glencore's nickel head Kenny Ives at Metal Bulletin's 4th Asian nickel conference in Jarkarta.
