EU coil prices keep rising on lack of competitive imports

Prices for domestic steel coil have increased again in the EU over the past week due to shortages of imported material and high raw material costs, sources have told Metal Bulletin.

The number of sources of imported coil in the EU has shrunk due to anti-dumping investigations into hot rolled coil (HRC) from six countries, and definitive anti-dumping duties imposed on cold rolled coil (CRC) from China and Russia.
In addition, the European Commission is expected to announce the start of a new trade defence case into hot dipped galvanized coil (HDG) originating from China by the end of this year.
