Anti-dumping case into Chinese HDG to create shortage in the EU market

The anti-dumping case into hot dipped galvanized coil (HDG) imported from China launched by the European Commission (EC) will create a shortage of material in Europe, according to market sources.

The EC announced the start of an anti-dumping probe into HDG originating from China on December 9 this year. The EC may impose provisional anti-dumping measures by September 9 2017 – nine months from the start of the investigation.

In 2015, 1.48 million tonnes of coated steel originating from China crossed the EU border, according to figures published by European steel association Eurofer. And in the first eight months of this year, China delivered 1.45 million...
