Taiwan’s import prices for scrap hit $255 per tonne cfr again

Import prices for containerised HMS-grade ferrous scrap in Taiwan rose to a seven-month high this week with supply from the USA still tight and offers from Japan seen as “not workable” for buyers in the island.

Metal Bulletin’s import price assessment for USA-origin HMS1&2 (80:20) was $250-255 per tonne cfr Taiwan for the week ended Friday December 16, up $3-4 from the preceding week’s $246-252 per tonne cfr.

Cargoes changed hands at the higher end of the range – $255 per tonne cfr – at the end of the week. Prices had peaked at this level in mid-November...
