CIS pig iron export prices maintain higher levels

CIS pig iron export prices have either remained flat or risen slightly over the past week, on the back of rising raw materials costs.

Turkish mills have been active in the deep-sea market in the run-up to the Christmas holidays, thereby boosting import scrap price prices.
However, coking coal prices have continued falling this week amid lower offers and weakening demand in China.
However, market participants said they expect CIS pig iron producers to continue incurring growing costs of the raw material due to the lag between the spot and contract prices at least until the end of the first quarter.
