ALUMINA INDEX: Restocking sends benchmark higher as alumina outshines aluminium

Benchmark alumina prices settled just shy of $350 per tonne this week as reluctant buying by Chinese smelters allowed sellers to continue to hike their offers.

Metal Bulletin’s fob Australia alumina index was calculated at $349.69 per tonne, rising from $340.75 per tonne a week earlier.
A cargo of the raw material traded at $350 fob Australia in the past seven days, while sources in China said a smaller cargo had been picked up close to $360 cif China.
