Iran may halve flat steel import duties

Iran looks likely to cut import duties on flat steel by 50% soon, mainly due to insufficient supplies in the country, particularly of light gauge hot rolled coil (HRC), but also to support recovering downstream industries.

“Duty rates on flat steel imports will be [halved] to 10% in a bid to balance the domestic steel market,” according to Jafar Sarqeyni, deputy minister of industries, mining & trade.
