INTERVIEW: GCC steel import duties must rise soon, Jindal Shadeed ceo says
The import duties imposed on rebar brought into the Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC) region must, and soon will be, increased to at least 10% from the current 5%, according to Naushad Ansari, ceo of Jindal Shadeed Iron & Steel.

In an interview on the sidelines of Metal Bulletin’s 20th Middle East Iron & Steel Conference in Dubai (MEIS 2016) on December 12-14, 2016, Ansari – who is ceo of the Oman-based steelmaker – told Metal Bulletin that steel producers in the GCC had had several meetings on the issue in 2016, and they were expecting a change in duties in the near future.
