CIS export prices for flat steel products steady amid limited activity

CIS-origin export prices for mainstream flat steel products have remained largely unchanged over the past week amid thin trading.

“This week started very quiet because the Chinese are off and because scrap [prices] dropped so fast, so much – everybody is cautious now,” one trader said.
China is officially on holiday until Thursday for the Chinese New Year. Turkish import prices for scrap fell $40-43 per tonne last week.
