EU stainless surcharges for February rise on ferro-chrome price jump

Alloy surcharges for February’s output of grade-304 cold rolled (CR) flat stainless steel in Europe rose by €94-124 ($101-133) per tonne month-on-month, after an increase in the average chrome price.

The January monthly average price for 6-8% ferro-chrome to major European destinations between December 21 and January 20 – the period used by producers to calculate February’s surcharge values – was $1.36-1.54 per lb. This compared with $1.24-1.33 per lb for January, according to Metal Bulletin’s assessment.
