SE Asia billet importers still pausing despite sub-$400 offers

Import prices for billet in Southeast Asia have dropped over the past week amid competitive offers from Turkey and the CIS, even though most buyers were still looking at China before placing their orders.

Metal Bulletin’s weekly billet import price assessment for Southeast Asia was $395-420 per tonne cfr for the week to Monday February 6, down $10 per tonne from $405-430 per tonne cfr in the preceding two weeks.
Offers for materials from Turkey and CIS countries were heard as low as $400 per tonne cfr and even a few dollars below that in countries such as Thailand and Indonesia.
