Ferrous scrap market braced for India container freight rate rise in April

Market participants involved in trading containerised ferrous scrap from Northern Europe to India are bracing themselves for a second increase in freight rates in only two months, Metal Bulletin has heard.

Shipping lines could increase their freight costs by $200-300 per container for shipments from Northern Europe and the UK to India in April, one source said. Another source estimated that shredded scrap would cost an extra $15 per tonne in one of his containers as a result.
