Krakatau Steel to import HRC as it puts rolling mill on maintenance

Indonesian state-owned steelmaker Krakatau Steel is planning to import tens of thousands of hot rolled coil to compensate for output loss as a result of maintenance on its hot strip mill.

The stoppage of its 2.4-million-tpy hot strip mill, located within its steel works in Cilegon, near Jakarta, is planned for May and June.
A spokesman for Krakatau Steel confirmed the stoppage and its need to import HRC, without disclosing further details.
