Asia slab import market split over price direction

Market participants in Asia have been split over their expectations for slab import prices in the region, with buyers sharing a bearish sentiment, despite some offers moving upwards.

Metal Bulletin’s Southeast Asia and East Asia slab import price assessment was $425-435 per tonne cfr for the week ending Monday March 6, narrowing upwards by $5 per tonne from the $420-435 per tonne cfr range in the previous three weeks.
And there were rumours about slab from an Indian mill sold last week in Southeast Asia at around $425 per tonne cfr.

Material from a second steelmaker from India was heard offered at $425-430 per tonne cfr, but has attracted no buying interest so far, sources...
