Order intake up 5-10% in early 2017 at EU stainless steel mills, Damstahl says

Order intake at European stainless steel mills in January and February is “5-10% higher” than in the corresponding months in 2016, Danish distributor Damstahl said in its monthly stainless steel briefing for March.

Delivery times for stainless steel long products are lengthening, with order books reported to be full until July, Damstahl said.
Lead times at European mills for flat stainless steel products have extended into late May and June, market participants told Metal Bulletin on Friday March 10.
On the same day, Metal Bulletin’s weekly base price assessment for 2mm, grade-304 cold rolled (CR) stainless sheet was €1,130-1,165 ($1,202-1,240) per tonne delivered in Northern Europe.
