China’s export prices for wire rod down amid offer-bid deadlock

China’s export prices for wire rod have fallen over the past week, while those for rebar narrowed upwards.

Metal Bulletin’s assessment of April/May shipments of chromium-added mesh-quality wire rod was $470-482 per tonne fob for the week ended Tuesday March 21, down $8-10 per tonne from a week earlier.
A few major wire rod producers in China lowered their export offers to $480-495 per tonne fob over the past week.
“We made deals at $480 per tonne fob this week,” an export manager at a mill in north-east China said.
