Italy’s Aferpi idles rail mill on bloom shortage, workers to strike

Italian steelmaker Acciaierie e Ferriere di Piombino (Aferpi) has stopped production at its rail product rolling mill in Piombino, Tuscany, on Italy's north-west coast.

According to Italian steel media organisation Siderweb, production was halted on Friday March 17, due to the delayed arrival of a seaborne bloom shipment from India.
Rail production is expected to resume on Monday April 3.
