Brazil's flat steel sales down 11% in February

Brazilian flat steel sales decreased by 11.30% year-on-year in February, as recent domestic price increases have reduced local buying interest.

Flat steel sales from distributors totalled 215,500 tonnes last month, compared with 242,900 tonnes in February 2016, according to figures released by the local flat steel association, Inda, on Tuesday March 21.
“Buyers are resisting the latest price adjustment,” Inda president Carlos Loureiro said. “We hope the [decrease in sales] is temporary, due to the price increases.”
