Turkey posts highest steel output growth rate in Jan-Feb

Turkish steel production rose by 14.11% year-on-year in the first two months of 2017, and had the highest growth rate among the top ten steel producers of the world, according to the Turkish Steel Producers’ Assn (TÇÜD).

The country maintained its 8th position in global steel rankings, and produced 4.97 million tonnes of crude steel in January-February 2017.
The positive developments in iron ore and coking coal prices resulted in reduced steel imports, and increased exports, and these supported crude steel production, the association said on Tuesday April 4.
