Vama banks on Usibor to increase sales of auto steel in China

Valin ArcelorMittal Automotive Steel (Vama) is betting on a growing acceptance of its high-strength coated steel product, Usibor 1500, in China’s automotive market to drive its sales.

Both production and sales of the product have risen to levels that put Vama in the pole position in the Chinese market for high-strength automotive steel products, the company told Metal Bulletin.
“Almost all foreign brands and a growing number of domestic brands have implemented hot stamping with Usibor 1500 in their cars, leading to a lightweight solution at controlled cost, together with a drastic improvement in crash behaviour,” Vama, a joint venture between ArcelorMittal and China’s Valin Group, said.
