EU long steel market weakens as demand remains subdued

The European rebar and wire rod market has weakened over the past week, on both the domestic and export side, sources told Metal Bulletin on Wednesday April 5.

Lacklustre demand has sent prices down after an increase of €5-35 ($5-37) per tonne last month.
Algeria, a key destination for EU long steel exports, is accepting requests for import rebar and wire rod licences between April 4 and April 18, but it will take at least a month for the shipments to start, according to market participants.
