Chinese HRC export prices fall as inventory pressure intensifies

China’s export prices for hot rolled coil continued to move lower over the past week amid rising inventory pressure in the domestic market.

Metal Bulletin’s assessment of prices for May/June shipments of commercial-grade, boron-containing SS400 HRC was $440-445 per tonne fob for the week ended Tuesday April 11, down $15-20 week-on-week and $30 per tonne lower from two weeks ago.
Export offers from Chinese mills have been experiencing steady declines following the continuous drop in domestic prices as the pressure from rising inventories intensifies in the home market, sources said.
