Germany’s Salzgitter slams ‘incomprehensible’ US anti-dumping duties on steel plate

German steelmaker Salzgitter has branded the USA's anti-dumping duties on heavy steel plate as “incomprehensible”, the company said this week.

“The decision and the level of duties for our products are not comprehensible for us,” Salzgitter said on Tuesday April 11.
The US Department of Commerce set definitive anti-dumping duties on heavy steel plate from eight countries, including Germany, Austria, France, Italy and Belgium on March 30.

About 200,000 tonnes of heavy plate delivered from Salzgitter’s two German mills – Ilsenburger Grobblech and Mannesmann Grobblech – to the USA last year were the subject of the investigation.
