Russian domestic flat steel prices stable as demand remains low

Domestic prices for hot rolled (HR) and cold rolled (CR) steel sheet in Russia have remained stable over the past week amid slow demand, market participants said on Tuesday April 11.

However, these domestic prices were under pressure from a fall in CIS export flat steel prices of $20-35 per tonne over the past week, as well as slow buying activity in the Russian market.
“Demand is normally higher in April, as people stock up, expecting prices to rise as the construction season perks up,” one trader said.
