Copper prices are expected to average $6,500 per tonne ($2.95 per lb) in the second quarter of 2017, and the long-term forecast is optimistic as demand should outstrip future supply, according to Bank of America Merrill Lynch.
Meanwhile, Chile’s copper commission, Cochilco, has once more raised its forecast for the price of the red metal in 2017 to reflect the impact of global supply disruptions.
