MMG's Q1 copper concs output at record high on Las Bambas ramp-up; zinc concs output falls

MMG saw record high copper concentrate production of 111,684 tonnes in the January-March quarter this year - up 249% year-on-year - on a surge in output from its Las Bambas mine in Peru, the Australia-listed miner said in its production report on Friday April 21.

The company’s total production of copper metal in concentrate in the first quarter was up 5% from the October-December quarter. At Las Bambas, output surged 254% year-on-year and 6% quarter-on-quarter to 111,341 tonnes. The remaining copper production came from its Rosebery operations in Australia. The Las Bambas mine achieved commercial production in July last year. “Our focus remains on further optimising production and reducing costs for the remainder of 2017,” MMG said.
