Metal Bulletin’s assessment of slab import prices in Southeast Asia and East Asia was $425-435 per tonne cfr for the week ended Monday April 17, widening downward by $5 per tonne from $430-435 per tonne cfr in the previous two weeks.
Prices were $5 per tonne lower than the $430-440 per tonne cfr assessment at the end of March.
Only one import transaction was heard in Southeast Asia this week, at around $425-430 per tonne cfr, for 20,000 tonnes of June-shipment slab from India, market participants told Metal Bulletin.
A bigger slab cargo from Iran was heard sold at a price around $425 per tonne cfr Thailand, but for May shipment. Such transaction would have been closed more than ten days ago, Metal Bulletin was told.
