Taiwan scrap import prices dip further on cheaper Chinese billet

Import prices for containerised HMS-grade ferrous scrap in Taiwan have fallen for the sixth consecutive week, with the plunge in China’s billet and long steel prices adding further pessimism to the market.

Metal Bulletin’s assessment of import prices for USA-origin HMS 1&2 (80:20) was $235-240 per tonne cfr Taiwan for the week ended Friday April 21. This was down by $10 per tonne from $245-250 per tonne cfr in the preceding week.
