Industry members and floor traders had marked Chamberlain as the favourite to take the role for some time. So when HKEX ceo Charles Li arrived in London for a board meeting this week, there was only one name being talked about.
One trader said: “It is positive news but not really very surprising. It was the most sensible option and he is the right person to lead the LME forward.”
Michael Lion, Lion Consulting Asia, believes Chamberlain will be able to retain the unique trading features of the LME and keep it moving in the right direction.
