Base metals Matthew Chamberlain has been named as the new ceo of the London Metal Exchange with immediate effect, parent company Hong Kong Exchanges & Clearing Ltd and the LME announced earlier today. The announcement was not unexpected and Chamberlain can hit the ground running after developing an in-depth knowledge of the workings of the bourse. Meanwhile, the war between warehouses for aluminium has resumed in Asia – the truce that had been in place since last year appears to have been broken, with operators aggressively looking to poach metal from competing shed owners.
