Cliffs to build its own North American DRI plant in 2018

Cliffs Natural Resources plans to build a direct-reduced iron (DRI) plant in the USA in 2018, the company’s top executive has said.

The planned unit, which is likely to be the first of a series throughout the USA, will have capacity for 1.5 million tons per year, Cliffs chairman, ceo and president Lourenco Goncalves said during an earnings conference call on Thursday April 27.
