Chinese HRC export prices rise further on strengthening domestic market

China’s export prices for hot rolled coil have moved up for a second consecutive week, as the domestic market strengthened further over the past seven days.

Metal Bulletin’s assessment of prices for June/July shipments of commercial-grade, boron-containing SS400 HRC was $425-435 per tonne fob for the week ended Tuesday May 2, up $5-10 from a week ago.
With domestic prices continuing to rise after a three-day break for May Day, major mills rode on the bullish sentiment, raising their offers of the product to $440-450 per tonne fob on Tuesday afternoon, sources said.
