US ferrous scrap export market quiet, prices flat

Turkish steelmakers remained largely on the sidelines over the past seven days, leaving the deep-sea ferrous scrap market quiet and US scrap export prices stable.

A single cargo of cut-grade scrap was sold to Turkey from the US East Coast on Thursday May 18 at a composite price of $278 per tonne cfr. The HMS1&2 (80:20) and bonus-grade scrap in this bulk deal were estimated at $273.33 per tonne cfr and $283.33 per tonne cfr, respectively.
