Political turmoil clouds outlook for Brazilian flat steel market

The latest bout of political chaos in Brazil has clouded the outlook for the country's flat steel market, according to the national flat steel association, Inda.

“Our clients, which were starting to rebuild [steel] inventories, are now only purchasing the required volumes,” Inda president Carlos Loureiro said.
“Customers put on standby mode everything that they could,” he added.
An emerging scandal involving Brazil’s recently installed president Michel Temer has brought uncertainty to the domestic metals markets.
