Vanadium market jumps on arbitrage opportunities as European weakness holds

Ferro-vanadium traders in Europe are taking advantage of higher spot prices in other locations, primarily Asia, as European prices remain under pressure.

Ferro-vanadium is trading in a range of $25.80-26.40 per kg, delivered duty-paid in Europe, according to Metal Bulletin’s assessment on Friday June 9, down from highs of $27.75-28.50 per kg in early May. 
In contrast, prices in China, for example, have held at $28 per kg and above in the domestic and export markets, according to market participants polled by Metal Bulletin.
