Usiminas will restart two iron ore plants in Brazil by September

Brazilian steel and iron ore producer Usiminas plans to restart operations at two iron ore processing facilities at its mining subsidiary, Mineração Usiminas, by September.

The move will allow the company to produce an additional 800,000 tonnes of iron ore this year, with an expected grade of 63-64% Fe, which will be destined to the export market, it told Metal Bulletin on Tuesday June 13.
The additional volumes will be mostly sold to China, but the firm will also seek clients in other Asian countries.
