China’s plate export prices up on domestic market gains

China’s plate export prices rose over the past week as the home market strengthened, though the costlier materials dampened buying interest among buyers abroad.

Metal Bulletin’s assessment of prices for July/August shipments of commercial-grade, chromium-added plate was $440-450 per tonne fob for the week ended Tuesday June 20, up $5-10 per tonne compared with a week earlier.
The increase came on the back of higher domestic prices in China, market participants said.
