Turkish deals lift US East Coast scrap export prices

US East Coast ferrous scrap export prices jumped at least $10 per tonne following two new cargo sales to Turkey and rumours of US West Coast deals to Bangladesh.

Fresh out of the Eid Al-Fitr holiday, one Turkish mill booked a 30,000-tonne cargo with a flexible composition from a US East Coast exporter. The deal was transacted at $290 per tonne cfr for 10,000-13,000 tonnes of HMS 1&2 (80:20), $295 per tonne cfr for 10,000 tonnes of shredded scrap and $300 per tonne cfr for 7,000-10,000 tonnes of bonus-grade scrap. A second East Coast exporter also jumped into the market selling 30,000 tonnes of 80:20 heavy melt at $287 per tonne cfr, 5,000 tonnes of shredded at $292 per tonne cfr and 5,000 tonnes of plate and structural (P&S) scrap at $297...
