Liberty House to buy two UK steel pipe mills from Tata Steel

International metals group Liberty House has signed a provisional agreement with Tata Steel UK to acquire two steel pipe mills with a total capacity of 250,000 tpy, it said on Tuesday July 11.

Both Liberty House and Tata Steel declined to provide a value for the transaction, which is expected to be “completed within the next few months”, Tata Steel said.
“Both parties will be working to complete consultations with employees and trade unions, as well as the transfer of supplier and customer contracts,” Tata Steel added.
The 42-inch and 84-inch longitudinal submerged arc welded (LSAW) pipe mills at Hartlepool in north-east England, make heavy-duty steel pipe for the energy, power and construction industries in the UK and worldwide.
