CIS billet exporters bullish on prices amid strong demand

CIS steel billet exporters continued to push prices further upward last week, supported by steady demand for the semi-finished product as well as strengthening fundamentals in the long steel market, sources have told Metal Bulletin.

The CIS billet price index moved up by $8 per tonne over the week to $425 per tonne fob Black Sea on Monday July 17. A 10,000-tonne cargo of Ukraine-origin billet was heard booked in the first half of last week at a price close to $420 per tonne fob Azov Sea, which would be equivalent to $425 per tonne...
