CIS export slab prices keep climbing on favourable market fundamentals

CIS export slab prices continued to increase in mid-July, supported by the continuing uptrend in the finished flat steel products and raw materials sectors, sources told Metal Bulletin this week.

Slab offers from CIS mills were reported within the range of $415-425 per tonne Black Sea last week, depending on destination.
This was up by $15 per tonne from the prices indicated at the beginning of the month.
Customers found these offers too bullish, however, and reported bids did not exceed $410 per tonne fob Black Sea.
