ArcelorMittal targets new $47 price rise on all long steel products

ArcelorMittal has targeted an immediate minimum price increase of €40 ($47) per tonne across its long products division, according to a document seen by Metal Bulletin this week.

“Since the third quarter of last year, we have seen significant margin erosion in most products, with sections, merchant bar, rebar and [mesh-quality wire rod] being most affected. Current margin levels are not sustainable,” the document said.

“[We have] therefore decided that we will target a further minimum price increase of €40 [$47 per tonne]...
