US Commerce affirms preliminary determinations on silicon metal imports countervailing probe

The US Department of Commerce has affirmed preliminary determinations in its countervailing duty investigations of silicon metal imports from Australia, Brazil and Kazakhstan, it announced on Tuesday August 8 .

Preliminary findings indicated that Simcoa Operations Pty and all other exporters from Australia received countervailable subsidies of 16.23%, Commerce said.
In the Brazil investigation, the Department calculated preliminary subsidy rates of 52.07% to LIASA, “based on adverse facts due to its failure to cooperate in the investigation”.
