Sumitomo Metal Mining quits Solomon Islands nickel exploration project

Japanese miner Sumitomo Metal Mining (SMM) has withdrawn from an exploration project in the Solomon Islands because of falling nickel prices and a legal dispute on mining rights, the company said on Tuesday August 8.
