Buyers cautious as CIS export billet prices keep climbing

Export billet prices in the Black Sea market have continued to trend upward over the past week despite the fact that buying activity has subsided, Metal Bulletin learnt on Monday August 21.

One of the reasons for lower market activity was reduced interest from Egyptian customers, which represent one of the largest outlets for CIS-origin billet at the moment. This is because of the upcoming Islamic Hajj celebration at the end of August.
Besides that, many customers in other markets preferred to take a wait-and-see position, expecting a downward price correction in the near term.
