EU stainless steel surcharges for September stabilise after nickel price surge

Alloy surcharges in Europe for September deliveries of grade-304 cold rolled (CR) stainless steel sheet have been held largely steady month-on-month.

The September alloy surcharge for 2mm grade-304 CR stainless steel sheet – compiled by Metal Bulletin based on data published by Outokumpu, Acerinox and Aperam – is €1,042-1,110 ($1,245-1,326) per tonne. For August, the alloy surcharge was €1,057-1,105 per tonne. After four consecutive months of alloy surcharge drops, the surcharge for September deliveries of grade-304 sheet stabilised as a sharp rise in the nickel price cancelled out the lower European ferro-chrome benchmark.
