British Steel to raise wire rod prices by $65 per tonne in late September

UK long steel producer British Steel is to raise wire rod prices by “at least £50 [$65] per tonne” on all deliveries from September 29 onward, it said on Thursday August 31.

“Raw materials prices continue to increase, with iron ore, coking coal and scrap all more expensive than they [have been] in recent months. Our prices must change and reflect the increased manufacturing costs we now face,” Richard Sims, British Steel’s md for wire rod, said.
