CIS export HRC prices inch down as buyers hold back

The prices of CIS-origin hot rolled coil (HRC) and cold rolled coil (CRC) have inched down over the past week, as lower workable price estimates have been heard, and buyers have continued to be reluctant to accept current offers.

Slow buying activity has been seen in some of the major markets for CIS-origin flat steel.
The Middle East has shown little trading activity due to the Islamic Hajj celebrations. And the Turkish market was closed last week for that country’s national Victory Day as well as the post-Hajj holiday of Eid al-Adha.
Hot rolled coil
Metal Bulletin’s price assessment for CIS HRC exports was $540-565 per tonne fob Black Sea on Monday September 4, down by $15 on the lower end from $555-565 per tonne fob last week.
